Curry County is accepting letters of interest from citizens who would like to participate in two planned committees to examine jail issues and courthouse security.
The committees will provide input and recommendations to the county commission on how to address the problems faced by the county as a result of “the aging infrastructure, design, and condition of the adult detention center and county courthouse,” a press release said.
Commissioners voted during a Nov. 10 special meeting to create the committees to seek community input after voters defeated two bond issues aimed at building a $33 million courthouse and jail.
Commissioners will review letters of interest and establish the committees Dec. 7 during a regularly scheduled commission meeting.
Residents interested in participating must submit a written request by noon Dec. 3.
Interested parties can submit a letter for their choice of the committees to: 700 North Main Street, Suite 10 Clovis, N.M. 88101 or email@example.com.
