Senior Mike Urioste scored eight touchdowns as Clovis Christian beat Lake Arthur 60-13 Saturday in the 6-man state championship game in Lake Arthur.
It is the school’s first state title in any sport.
Urioste’s 46-yard run in the first quarter gave Clovis Christian (10-0) the lead for good at 13-7. The Eagles led 34-13 at halftime.
Scott Fly scored CCS’ other TD on a 31-yard run.
Angelo Rivera ran for one touchdown and threw for another for Lake Arthur (8-4), the 2007 and 2009 state champs.
Clovis Christian outscored its opponents 571 to 92 this season, including 123 to 25 in two playoff games.
Urioste finished the season with 50 TDs.
