The Clovis High School marching band closed out its marching season with a pair of third-place finishes in St. George, Utah.
The band had its first competition Friday at the Red Rock Fesitval, and then took third at the Bands of America.
“That’s our highest finish ever at the Bands Of America regional,” said Clovis Municipal Schools Music Director Alan Dropps. “Just to make finals at a Bands of America is incredible, and to reach the top third is incredible.”
Dropps said Clovis had never finished higher than 23rd at Bands of America.
Coincidentally, another Clovis band took top honors — Clovis West High School of Clovis, Calif. The Bands of America featured bands from California, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.
American Fork, Utah finished between the Clovises in second place.
On Friday, Clovis captured the award for outstanding visual performance.
