Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Monday briefing.

College meeting

The Clovis Community College board of trustees will be holding their monthly meeting 8 a.m. Wednesday in room 512.

The meeting is open to the public.

Land use info

Information about the Cannon Air Force Base Joint Land Use Study is available online.

The study seeks to identify and offer solutions for potential conflicts in land and air space use between the base and civilian communities.

Biker benefit

The Blue Knights’ fifth annual dinner and dance is 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Underground Embassy.

The fundraiser benefits United Way of Eastern New Mexico and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners.

It’s $35 per person, $65 for a couple, or $250 for a table of eight.

On this day in 1952, the U.S. detonates the world’s first thermonuclear weapon, the hydrogen bomb, on Eniwetok atoll in the Pacific.

The test gave the U.S. a short-lived advantage in the nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union.
