Police arrest Farwell man in McDonald’s restaurant crash

A 24-year-old Farwell man was arrested Friday evening after Clovis police said he crashed into McDonald’s restaurant on Mabry Drive and fled the scene.

James Willoughby is charged with aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and failing to notify police of a crash, according to Clovis Police Chief Steve Sanders.

Sanders said Willoughby was stopped by Texico police minutes after the crash and Clovis police were able to take him into custody.

Police were called to the crash at McDonald’s around 5:30 p.m.

Sanders said Willoughby’s white Dodge pickup truck crashed through the exterior wall of the restaurant, penetrating a drink station inside.

A male who was near the drink station when the crash occurred received minor injuries, Sanders said, and there were no other known injuries.
