Sexual Assault Services of Eastern New Mexico is one of nine entities to share $488,000 from the Department of Justice, according to a release from U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.
The money comes from a $1.19 million portion of a grant to strengthen local justice system responses to violent crimes against women. The encompassing grant of $1.8 million, according to the release, is for a variety of crime and justice initatives.
Other entities sharing in the $488,000 include the Community Against Violence in Taos; the Santa Fe Rape Crisis and Trauma Treatment Center; El Refugio in Silver City; Sexual Assault Services of Northwest in Farmington; Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico in Albuquerque; La Pinon of Las Cruces; the statewide entities of New Mexico Legal Aid and Catholic Charities of Central New Mexico’s Violence Against Women Immigration Program.
