Thursday is the official kickoff of the annual Clovis Music Festival featuring museum tours and lots of live old time rock n’ roll.

Open gates

The Open Gate Program is making enrolled private land available to hunters again this year.
Landowners who sign up are paid to allow hunters on their land or to travel across it to get to landlocked public land.

Today in history

On this day in 1974, President Gerald Ford pardons his disgraced predecessor Richard Nixon for any crimes he may have committed or participated in while in office.

Ford later defended this action before the House Judiciary Committee, explaining that he wanted to end the national divisions created by the Watergate scandal.
