Questions surround Muleshoe killing

Muleshoe police and the Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man Sunday morning.

Rolando Sauceda was pronounced dead at Muleshoe Area Medical Center just after 4 a.m. (CDT), according to Police Chief Brian Frieda.

Frieda said police responded to a residential area in the 500 block of West Avenue B for a report of shots fired and found Sauceda outside.

Frieda declined to say how many times Sauceda had been shot, citing pending autopsy findings.

There have been no suspects or persons of interest identified in the case, Frieda said.

He also declined to discuss a possible motive or the scenario surrounding the shooting.

“We have conflicting variations,” Frieda said. “There are just several things that are involved with this. We’re trying to sort them out and separate them out.”

Anyone with information on the shooting can contact Muleshoe Police at (806) 272-4569 or Texas Rangers at (806) 472-2700.
