Police: Two men arrested after burglary attempt

Two Clovis men are in jail after police said they were caught burglarizing a house Friday.

Gabriel Rodriguez, 27, and Jeremiah Mascarenas, 30, were apprehended around noon after a foot pursuit.

According to a Clovis police press release:

• Officers were called to Nancy Lopez Drive in northeast Clovis by neighbors who reported seeing Rodriguez enter a residence through a front window. The responding officers located an unoccupied, running vehicle in the driveway of the home and saw Rodriguez and Mascarenas inside the home.

• The pair fled out the back of the residence when they saw police. Rodriguez was located hiding in bushes on Colonial Parkway, and Mascarenas was found hiding under a vehicle nearby.

• Police recovered the resident’s property from the bushes where Rodriguez was found, including a loaded pistol and electronics items found in a gym bag.

Rodriguez is charged with aggravated residential burglary, conspiracy, felon in possession of a firearm, larceny of a firearm, tampering with evidence, possession of burglary tools and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

Mascarenas is charged with accessory to aggravated burglary, conspiracy, criminal damage, trespassing and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
