Student Athletes of the Week were Kimberly Crouse (softball), Amanda Lale (softball), Daniel Draper (men’s track & field and Nicole Reid (women’s track & field).
• Kimberly Crouse (Sr., P, Round Rock, Texas/Hill College/Round Rock HS) split a pair of games against Texas Woman’s University last week, striking out 21 batters and walking just three over 18 innings. On Saturday, she tossed 173 pitches, fanned a career-best 16 batters and allowed just three earned runs in an 11-inning loss. On Sunday, she concluded her career at ENMU with a victory over the Pioneers, striking out five and walking none.
• Amanda Lale (Fr., DH/1B, Mesquite, Texas/Horn HS) batted .455 against Texas Woman’s last week and drove in a team-best four runs. In Sunday’s win, she hit two-for-three and hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to give Eastern a 4-3 lead.
• Daniel Draper (Jr., Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty HS) tossed the javelin a distance of 193′-1″ to turn in a first-place finish at the Abilene Christian/Oliver Jackson Open. The throw was his second best of the season and marked the second time he surpassed a throw of 190′ this year.
• Nicole Reid (So., Pueblo, Colo./East HS) turned in an ENMU record time of 4:55.93 in the women’s 1,500-meter run to place fifth at the Abilene Christian-Oliver Jackson Open. She had previously set the ENMU record for the 1,500-meter run of 5:07.05, exactly one month ago, at the McMurry Relays.
