The boil water advisory for Cannon Air Force Base and Chavez housing has been lifted, according to a release from Cannon Air Force Base Public Affairs.
Extensive testing of the water system has determined that the contamination was isolated to one outside faucet at the Landing Zone. All other tests from inside the Landing Zone and across base and Chavez housing were negative.
There is no evidence the contamination spread to the base water distribution system. There is no need to sterilize any appliances, such as ice makers, dishwashers, coffee makers, water dispensers, etc.
For those who have not run water since the boil water advisory began, it is recommended to run faucets for 30 seconds to freshen the water in the line.
