PLAINVIEW, Texas — Left fielder Brian Embery belted a grand slam, keying an eight-run first inning as Wayland Baptist routed Eastern New Mexico University 12-1 in non-conference baseball on Tuesday.

The contest was called after the top of the seventh due to the 10-run rule.

Embery hit his 11th homer of the season with one out after a leadoff walk to Eddie Allen, a single by Pedro Gomez and a hit batsman. The Pioneers (25-14) got their other runs in that inning off Doug McIntyre (1-5) on a wild pitch, RBI singles from Scott Keane and Michael Prell and an RBI groundout by Allen.

ENMU (21-22) put up its lone run in the second on a leadoff triple by Ethan Wagner and an RBI single by Paden Vendrely.

WBU added one in the bottom of the second and two in the third before Scott Keane knocked his sixth homer of the year to lead off the fifth.

Junior left-hander Calvin Lewis (2-4) worked six innings for the win, allowing five hits with no walks and two strikeouts. McIntyre pitched five innings for the Hounds, allowing 12 runs — eight earned — on 11 hits.

Keane went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs for the Pioneers, while Prell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

ENMU plays its final home game at 6 p.m. today against University of the Southwest at Greyhound Field.
