2-21 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 8 a.m. Feb. 2 an officer responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Country Meadows Drive for a theft report.

A woman said she discovered her hydrocodone pills had been taken from their bottle.

She said her family had recently moved to the home and a moving company had delivered their household items and she had discovered the pills missing while unpacking.

She said told the officer she needed a police report in order to refill the prescription.

The officer documented the missing 15 pills at an estimated value of $55.

About 8 a.m. Feb. 3 an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Rosewood for a report of a death.

A medical investigator told the officer the body of a 30-year-old man was removed from the home by the funeral home prior to his arrival.

He said the man’s mother had found him deceased in his bedroom and called 911 and that the man had some health conditions for which he was taking prescriptions.

The officer listed the four medications and noted the cause of death as unknown in his report.

Around 6 a.m. Feb. 5 an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Tierra Blanca in reference to a burglary.

The resident told the officer he woke when he heard his dogs barking and opened the door to his room to see what was going on.

He said a man was standing in the middle of his kitchen.

He said he grabbed a broomstick and he and the man stared at each other until the man told him “hold on”.

He said he replied, “Ok” and the man turned and ran out the door.

He gave the officer a description of the suspect.

About 2 p.m. Feb. 5 an officer responded to Clovis High School for a report of child abuse.

An administrator told the officer a female student had disclosed abuse at home.

The teen said her father had been mentally and physically abusing her for as long as she could remember.

Based on the information the girl gave the officer, a child services worker was called and the decision was made to remove the girl from her home.

Her mother was called so she could be informed of the action being taken and when she learned her daughter was to be removed she expressed fear of her husband.

Arrangements were made for the girl and her mother to have a police escort to the domestic violence shelter.
