The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two inmate-on-inmate beatings within hours of each other Wednesday at the jail.

Undersheriff Wesley Waller said deputies were called to the facility at 3:30 p.m. then again just before 6 p.m.

The first incident involved the beating of a male inmate by another in the booking area of the jail, Waller said.

The second assault took place in a cell, he said.

In each incident, an inmate was treated at Plains Regional Medical Center for injuries and released back to the custody of the detention center.

“We are actively investigating both incidents and charges are anticipated in both incidents,” Waller said.
