A candidate for the District 4 Clovis City Commission seat announced Wednesday he’s withdrawn from the race.

Jarod Wilhite, president of Wilhite Inc. construction company, said in a press release “new business ventures” led to his withdrawal.

“Unfortunately, the two priorities (his job and the City Commission seat) are competing against one another and, at this time, I am making the right choice to benefit all parties,” he said in the release.

Other candidates in District 4 are Furgus Tunnell, Dan Stoddard and Randy Rodriguez.

Election Day is March 2. Early voting begins next Wednesday.
