Another round of rain and snow is possible by midweek across much of north and central New Mexico, according to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
A deep upper level storm system currently over the eastern Pacific ocean is expected to push east into northern old Mexico Wednesday morning then across eastern New Mexico through Thursday. Abundant moisture in association with this system along with sufficient cold air will create the potential for significant snowfall accumulations over the higher terrain.
At this time it appears the heaviest snow will be along the central mountain chain and the adjacent eastern slopes. temperatures are expected to be warmer with this system than the previous one therefore more rain than snow is expected over the east central and southeast plains.
