Police expect to make auto burglary arrests

Police have two suspects in a Saturday auto burglary spree in north central Clovis.

Beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday, police began receiving reports of auto burglaries in the 800 blocks of Prairieview Drive and Yucca Avenue.

At least eight residents reported their vehicles broken into and burglarized, records show.

Police Capt. Patrick Whitney said callers pointed police to suspects and officers found a juvenile and an adult suspect in the area and recovered some stolen property.

Because the juvenile was intoxicated at the time he was detained, he could not be questioned or held and was released to his parents. Curry County Juvenile Detention Center doesn’t take in intoxicated people, and police don’t question drunken individuals in most cases.

Whitney said detectives are conducting interviews and arrests are anticipated in the case. Neither suspect has been charged.
