The New Mexico School Boards Association (NMSBA) held their Annual Convention on December 4th & 5th. During the Convention, the Association elected new officers and Clovis Board of Education Secretary, Terry Martin, who was Vice-President of NMSBA last year, will take over as President-Elect of the Association for 2010. Terry is completing seven years of service on the Clovis Board and is a member of the NMSBA Board of Directors.
The Association’s membership consists of over 450 school board members statewide. It provides opportunities for school board members across the state to collaborate and learn about legislative issues concerning public education as well as what is happening in other school districts.
According to Lora Harlan, Immediate Past President of NMSBA and President of the Clovis Board of Education, “The NMSBA helps schools across the state pull together, which helps you make better decisions in your own district.”
Additionally, she stated, “Terry Martin is a leader in education at the local and state levels. He will serve the state well as he is a leader, and I am excited we have Terry representing Clovis and the east side of our state.”
