The Altrusa Club of Clovis held its monthly business meeting Tuesday at Muffleys Back Door. Members in attendance were Beverly Fitz, Carolyn Sherman, Mary Weigl, Nancy Taylor, Amanda Nutt, Judith Glikas, Jenn Koonsman, Narcie Tucker, Sylvia Bean and Kathy Travis.
After the minutes were read and the treasurer’s report was given, committee reports were updated. The Fresh Start project, which supports women coming out of the battered women’s shelter, has received a request for baskets for four women next week. This project is in need of gently used household items, and members were once again asked to bring whatever they can to restock the shelves.
Also, the In the Beginning Project, which gives young, first-time mothers items to encourage intellectual development of their infants, will deliver 25 baskets to the Women’s Clinic to restock their inventory. Altrusa will deliver Meals on Wheels the week of Dec. 14.
Nancy Taylor gave a rundown of services the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico provides, and asked for any volunteers to help at the food bank during this busy holiday season. The Altrusa Christmas party will be on Dec. 14 at Leal’s on Prince. Spouses and guests are welcome. Meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
