A 35-year-old Clovis man was sentenced to four years in prison for having a woman sneak drugs into the jail.

Paul Apodaca was convicted Friday of conspiracy to traffic narcotics into the Curry County Adult Detention Center, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.

In October 2008, a detention officer checked the lobby bathroom at the jail after a woman acting suspiciously walked out, the release said.

The officer found a pink balloon filled with cocaine, marijuana, tobacco and prescription drugs. The woman later told investigators she had been asked by Apodaca to deliver the drugs to the jail, the release said.

Apodaca must serve two years probation following his imprisonment.
