Plains Regional Medical Group will provide 300 free flu shots to the public Oct. 17.
The shots will be available at 2200 West 21st Street from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the vaccine is gone.
The flu shots do not including the H1N1 vaccine.
A separate vaccine to protect against H1N1 influenza is expected to be available later in the fall.
The virus used to produce the vaccine is grown in eggs, so people with allergies should not get the shot.
For safety reasons, children under 17 cannot receive flu shots through the clinic.
