The GAP Project, sponsored by United Way’s Day of Caring Committee, is building a playground. The installation of the playground equipment at Grand Avenue Playground will be on Saturday, Aug 22 beginning at 8 a.m. If you would like to volunteer to help build, clean, paint or move pea gravel, please give us a call. We will need to give you a list of items we would like for you to bring to help move and spread pea gravel onto the area around the playground or a list of power tools to help install the playground.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at noon prior to a lunch for volunteers only. McDonald’s is donating the burgers, Albertson’s is donating the chips, and Southwest Canners is donating the drinks. Water will be provided by Wellsfargo, High Plains Federal Credit Union and community members.
Kerry Crawford is the honorary chairman of the Day of Caring Committee. Other community members who serve on the committee are: Tony Bogusz, Greg Gracia, Cliff Martin, Chris Pacheco, Sandra Flatow, Louis Gordon, Johnny Rucker and Greg Williams.
