Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

• Around 1 a.m. July 20 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a report of a domestic battery.

The officer heard a male and female screaming at each other when he arrived, but no one would open the door.

A witness said a couple hours before the woman had come to her residence and was afraid because her boyfriend had battered her.

Because the woman’s safety was in question, officers made entry to the home and found only the female inside.

She did not appear battered and told officers she and the male had been arguing but he had not battered her.

Officers discovered the female had an outstanding warrant and arrested her.

About 9 p.m. July 20 an officer responded to a business in the 1400 block of Mabry Drive for a report of an injured man.

A 48-year-old man with bleeding injuries to his head and face told officers he had been battered at his home.

The man said he was sitting on his porch when a juvenile male who lived with him came out and started hitting him with a metal pipe.

The man said the juvenile continued hitting him and he held up his hands to protect himself but did not strike back because he didn’t want to get in trouble for hitting a minor.

The man said after the juvenile stopped, he walked to the business to get help because he was injured.

A detective was called to take over the investigation.

About 8 p.m. July 20 an officer responded to the 3000 block of Glennfield for a report of a drunken driver.

A caller told dispatch a man had vomited from his vehicle, then passed out in the road.

The officer found a 21-year-old man laying out the door of his vehicle passed out.

The man was unable to successfully complete a sobriety test.

He was arrested for DUI, second offense.

Around 9 p.m. July 21 an officer responded to the 200 block of Aspen for a battery report.

A woman said she was walking in the area when her former boyfriend approached and tried to talk to her.

She said she told him to go away and he kicked her in the buttocks, then grabbed a plate of food she was holding and dumped it on her head.

She told the officer she just wanted the man to leave her alone and would seek a restraining order.
