Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 6 p.m. June 5 an officer responded to a state office in the 1600 block of North Prince Street to arrest someone for a probation violation.
A probation officer told the officer a man told her he killed a dog with a knife and threw it in the trash.
She said the man also told her he set an ant bed on fire and “gutted” a tarantula because he was agitated.
Officers were unable to locate the carcass of a dog in the area the man said it would be and the man had no evidence of the incident on his clothing, telling police he had changed and washed his hands.
Another officer noted the man told other inmates at the jail when he arrived
