County manager hires assistant

Curry County Manager Lance Pyle has appointed an assistant.

Connie Harrison, who has been administrative services coordinator and worked at the county more than two years, will assume the position of assistant county manager Monday.

Pyle said in a news release the growth of Curry County and expansion at Cannon Air Force Base has created a need for an assistant.

Harrison will be paid a salary of $50,754, up from $41,000.

Harrison began working for Curry County in 2006 and has 15 years of management experience in the financial industry.

A child of a military family, Harrison graduated from Clovis High School and has a degree in business administration, the release said.

Harrison is known for her work seeking grants for county endeavors and has been heavily involved in projects such as the Median Beautification project, funding for a health care clinic in Melrose, a county nuisance ordinance and obtaining stimulus funding.

In the release, she said she plans to continue work on those projects in her new role.

“I am humbled by the responsibilities of the position and appreciate the opportunity to further serve the county,” she said.
