The Pintores Art League of Clovis has put out a call for artists for their Spring Fling 2009 Fine Arts Show to be held April 17-25, 2009 in the Clovis Community College commons located at 417 Schepps Boulevard in Clovis, New Mexico. Cash prizes will be awarded for both professional and student artwork. This year’s judge is the esteemed Dr. Jan Lloyd, longtime instructor and Division Chair of Art and Communication at Clovis Community College. The professional awards are: $200 Best of Show, and in each media category*, $100 1st place, $50 2nd place, and $30 3rd place. The student awards are: $100 Best of Show, and in each media category, $50 1st place, $35 2nd place, and $20 3rd place. This year there will also be a People’s choice award. The public is invited to vote for their favorite artwork Friday, April17, and Monday, April 20, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the college commons. Ballots will be available at the college Information Desk. An Awards Reception will be held in the college commons at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 20.
Entries will be accepted on Thursday, April 16, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the college commons
All work must be original work by the artist, not previously shown in a PAL juried show.
To be considered student artwork, it must have been done under instruction at school or college. Students should be prepared to list the name of the instructor under whom the piece was executed with their entry.
The categories* for both professional and students are:
Cost to enter: Professional non member $15 per entry, Professional PAL member $10 per entry, and students $5 per entry. (All participants are welcome to join Pintores.)
All work must be dry, matted if on paper, framed**, wired, and ready to hang. Gallery wrap canvas acceptable. Canvas with exposed stapled edges is not acceptable. All pottery and sculpture must be in a finished state. Maximum size is 48 inches by 48 inches. No sawtooth hangers. No crafts or needlework.
There is no limit to the number of entries per artist. PAL official reserve the right to refuse any work deemed unsuitable for the show. Neither PAL nor CCC will be responsible for loss or damage to an entry.
*Media categories must have a minimum of six entries to qualify for cash awards.
**Student work may be shrink wrapped in lieu for framing, but must be ready to hang.
