Local team plays in ‘world’ tourney

VAIL, Colo. — “Twisted Sisterz,” a team made up of three girls from Clovis and three from Portales, participated in the “Kick It 3v3 world championship” soccer tournament Jan. 17-19.

The team, comprised of Kyra Bussen, Airen Martin and Stacy Gross of Clovis and Jenna Sievers, Kaitlin Garrett and Chay Bond of Portales, reached the finals in their age group before losing to a team from Bazil 3-2 in overtime.

More than 600 teams overall participated in the event. Twisted Sisterz, which won all of its pool matches, played against teams from Florida, Mazryland, New Jersey, Louisiana and Colorado, in addition to the team from Brazil.

Jordan and Scott Martin served as the team’s coaches.
