With two days left until the deadline to accept donations, United Way is more than $130,000 from reaching its fundraising goal for Curry and Roosevelt counties.

According to a press release, just over $488,000 has been pledged to date by individuals and businesses. The goal is $627,000.

United Way funds are used to help Roosevelt and Curry County families in the areas of education, income and health.

“Donations and pledges to United Way provide a safety net for families and individuals year round, as well as support efforts to tackle the root causes of problems facing our families and our communities,” the release said.
