City officials urge caution at Hillcrest Park

The Clovis Parks and Recreation Department is cautioning residents not to climb the wall located at Hillcrest Park.

Parks and Recreation director Rob Carter said the wall is not safe. His warning is in response to a photo in Thursday’s Clovis News Journal showing a youngster climbing the wall.

Carter said the wall was built in the 1930s and the nearly 80-year-old mortar cannot sustain any added weight.

Carter said the department is looking into ways to keep the public off the wall such as blocking it off and placing additional signs.
