Information sought in deer poaching

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of poachers believed to have unlawfully killed a deer off N.M. 202 and Black Water Road northeast of Portales.

The carcass of a buck mule deer was found partially buried a couple of hundred yards west of Black Water Road on state land.

The antlers were sawed off at the bases.

Department officers believe the buck was killed during the last week of December.

The state is offering a reward of $500. Callers can remain anonymous.
