A 32-year-old Clovis man was shot last week in a dispute over gas money, according to a police report released Tuesday.

Anthony Gallegos was shot in the abdomen and leg, records show.

Dwain West, 23, and Lavodrick Hogues, 22, were arrested in connection with the shooting.

According to the report, Gallegos’ friend said West and Hogues came to the residence in the 1000 block of Rencher Street and demanded gas money as payment for a ride the friend had received a few days earlier from one of the suspect’s sister.

Gallegos’ friend said the suspects became angry at the refusal of their demands and when Gallegos went into the house and returned holding a leg from a table, one of the men shot at him at least five times, according to the report.

West and Hogues are being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center on $45,000 bond, jail officials said.

Charges for the pair include aggravated assault and shooting at a dwelling.
