The Altrusa Club of Clovis met Oct. 13 at Muffley’s Back Door.
Hostesses for the evening were Jackie Lara and Leslie McCloud.
After a meal, business matters was discussed, including the upcoming 17th annual Pumpkin Patch held Oct. 18.
Curry County Adult Detention Center Interim Warden Audrey Barriga gave a presentation on changes that have been implemented during her tenure at the detention center.
She informed the members of the rehabilitative programs that are in place, such as anger management and GED completion programs.
Chaparral Extension Club
The Chaparral Extension Club met Oct. at the extension building with 14 members present.
June Phillips read “Nails in the Fence.”
The meeting was called to order by President Sheryl Abdill. Dues were collected. A card was signed for one member who is ill.
Upcoming programs were discussed: High Plains Quilt Festival , Curry County Extension Christmas Showcase Nov. 17-18 and Curry County annual banquet Nov. 20.
Chaparral meetings for rest of the year were set up.
Phillips and Jeanetta Mesner were hostesses.
Following the potluck meal Mesner helped he group make a dishtowel dress to hang on a knob.
The next meeting will be Oct. 23 at the extension building on the fairgrounds
