PORTALES — Brazilian native Emerson Rodrigues has overcome an intimidating language barrier during his college education in the United States. On the soccer pitch, however, those barriers don’t seem to be so stubbornly rigid.

Rodrigues, in his first season for the Greyhounds, has taken advantage of the opportunity soccer has afforded him. In seven games this season, Rodrigues has scored half of the Greyhounds’ 14 goals.
