U.S. Olympic hammer thrower Amber Campbell failed to qualify for the medal round late Sunday night in Beijing.
Campbell, who lived in Tucumcari from 1983 to 1995, finished 21st among 50 competitors with a best throw of 67.86 meters during qualifying.
The top 10 advanced to the medal round.
Cuba’s Yipsi Moreno led all qualifiers with a throw of 73.92 meters. The No. 10 qualifier threw 69.77 meters.
Campbell’s personal best is 70.33 meters.
No Americans advanced to the finals in the hammer throw.
