Police investigating criminal damage spree

Clovis police are investigating a rash of vehicle damage incidents reported Wednesday morning in the Jonquil and Colonial Park areas.

As of 9:30 a.m. police had received 25 reports from residents in the northeast Clovis neighborhoods, Capt. Patrick Whitney said.

Officers were in the area taking reports as they came in, Whitney said.

A majority of the reports were tied to vehicle eggings but there were some reports of broken vehicle windows, he said.

Whitney said there are no suspects.

Typically in cases of eggings and criminal damage, law enforcement finds the culprits are juveniles, he said.

“The people responsible need to be held responsible and their parents need to be held responsible if it happens to be juveniles. Parents need to ask the question ‘Do you know where your child is?’” Whitney said.
