Clovis Municipal Airport is among three airports in New Mexico to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to make improvements to their facilities and runways, according to a release from U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.

The $637,200 in funds for Clovis will be used to construct a taxiway, which will help improve airport operations. This funding supplements a $4.1 million award in May for runway rehabilitation.

The airport is in the process of making upgrades to accommodate an increase in traffic as a result of Cannon Air Force Base’s new mission.

Lordsburg Municipal Airport and Carrizozo Municipal Airport also received funds.
