July 30, 2008 Police Blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 2 a.m. July 21 an officer responded to a business in the 700 block of 21st Street for a larceny report.

A clerk said while he was waiting on a male and female customer, the female reached over the counter and stole a tube of quarters.

He said when he confronted her, the woman denied taking anything and they left.

The officer was unable to locate the suspects.


About 1:30 p.m. July 21 an officer responded to a burglary report in the 500 block of Tucker.

A woman said she was in her house and noticed a male juvenile approach her house.

She said she found the youth in the garage putting items in his pants.

When he saw her, she said he dropped the items and took off.


Around 9 a.m. July 22 an officer responded to a criminal damage report in the 400 block of Seventh Street.

A city worker said sometime the night before someone threw a rock over the fence and broke the window on a city van.


About noon July 22 an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of York for an assault report.

A woman said she was working at the residence as a caregiver and a man cursed at her and threatened her with a fork when she told him she couldn’t help him with something right away.

The man said he asked for something for his wife and he argued with the woman because he felt she was being unfair to him. He said he never threatened her.

He was escorted from the premises at the request of the property owner.
