Ian Cooke, new advertising director for Freedom New Mexico, wants to provide local businesses consistent advertising packages to help them achieve their marketing goals.
Freedom New Mexico includes the Clovis News Journal, Portales-News Tribune and Quay County Sun newspapers and Web sites.
Cooke moved to Clovis in March from San Bernardino, Calif., where he served as the outside classified sales manager for the San Bernardino County Sun.
Cooke, in the newspaper advertising business since 1979, said he wants sales representatives to take a consultative approach to selling ads.
“I’m trying to get us to sit down with an advertiser and really get the gist of what it is they’re trying to accomplish with this advertising program,” he said.
He said his strategy involves offering discounts to customers to run their ads two to three times a week.
“Ian Cooke’s positive approach to print and online advertising and marketing has already helped Freedom New Mexico’s ad staff find ways to help our customers grow their businesses,” FNM Publisher Ray Sullivan said.
“Outside of work, Ian has directed that energy into being an active participant in several community activities that improve the places we live. I’m pleased he has joined our team.”
