A pretrial hearing in Curry County Treasurer Rhonda Bookout’s public records tampering case has been postponed, according to court officials.
The hearing was scheduled for today. A new hearing date has not been set, a clerk with the 9th Judicial District Court said Monday.
It is unclear if the delay will effect the September trial date, the clerk said.
Bookout is accused of changing documents to reflect deposits that were never made.
Officials have said $19,000 is missing from last year’s Curry County Fair. No one has been charged with taking the money.
Following her February indictment, Bookout voluntarily took leave from her position.
She faces a possible sentence of 18 months in prison and $5,000 fine if convicted.
