Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 2 a.m. July 13 an officer responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence in the 1500 block of Echols.
When the officer arrived, a male subject was outside yelling and cursing. As he was ordered to the ground, the man said “I did it, I beat up my mother.”
The man’s 46-year-old mother said he punched her in the face, kneed her in the stomach, pulled her hair, took her phone away and wouldn’t let her leave the residence.
The officer found pieces of the woman’s hair strewn throughout the house.
The 30-year-old man was arrested.
About 6 p.m. July 14 an officer was called to a business in the 1300 block of Prince Street for a shoplifting report.
A woman said a male and female juvenile between ages 10 and 13 stole almost $20 worth of candy from the store.
She said they walked around with candy and when she got busy, walked out the back door.
The officer was unable to locate the children.
Around 10 p.m. July 14 an officer responded to a hit-and-run accident in the area of Grand Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
A witness said she saw a vehicle traveling westbound on Grand Avenue hit a stop sign on the median strip.
She said the driver told her he was OK and left the scene.
About 1 a.m. July 15 an officer responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1500 block of Avondale.
When the officer arrived, the victim, an off-duty probation officer, had a male juvenile pinned down on the lawn and a citizen had a juvenile male sitting on a curb.
The victim said he caught one of the youth sitting in the front seat of his vehicle while the other youth stood beside the vehicle acting as a lookout.
He said he chased one of the youth and caught him and his neighbor caught the other.
The boys were arrested for auto burglary.
