July 9, 2008 Police Blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 9 p.m. July 1 an officer responded to a home in the 1200 block of Maple for a theft report.

A man said $400 was stolen off his bedroom dresser.

The victim said the only other person who had been in the house was an insurance adjuster who came around 11 a.m. that day to inspect for a water damage claim and was the only person who had been in the house.

About noon July 1 an officer responded to the area of Oak and Brady for a vehicle crash.

A man said he was turning right onto Oak from Brady and struck the front left fender of the other vehicle.

The man in the vehicle that was struck said he got scared and left the scene when the other driver got out and approached his vehicle.

Both men were issued citations for leaving the scene of a crash.

Around noon July 1 an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for a report of found property.

A manager said a leather glove containing bullets for a .357 magnum had been found outside an apartment building.

The officer placed the items into evidence.

About 9 p.m. July 3 an officer responded to a home in the 1200 block of Lea for a drunk person.

A caller said a man was beating on the door of a residence with a board.

Officers discovered a board laying in the yard of the home and blood on the ground. The residents said they went inside when the man approached the house with the board and didn’t see anything else.

Officers located the man a couple blocks away and he was bleeding from a deep puncture wound on his wrist.

The man said the residents of the house had attacked him in the alley behind the residence. He said he was hit in the head with a board and cut with a broken beer bottle.

Officers could not find evidence of the attack in the alley.
