NORMAN, Okla. — Junior Travis Reid was one of two New Mexico State University golfers chosen to the Golf Coaches Association of America’s Division I Ping All-Southwest Region team, announced Thursday.
The Clovis High graduate was the Aggies’ top player his year, averaging 72.74 strokes over 38 rounds, highlighted by a 66 in the third round of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces. Reid was also a second-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection and helped the Aggies to their second WAC title in three years.
Freshman Tim Madigan of Rio Rancho also represented NMSU on the all-region team, which consists of the top 15 players.
“Obviously, both players had a very good year and they are very deserving of this honor,” Aggies coach Scott Lieberwirth said.
