Police make marijuana bust

PORTALES — Police arrested a Portales man Saturday and seized 42 marijuana plants growing at a Portales residence, according to a press release from the Portales Police Department.

Robert Hawkins, 37, was arrested on outstanding warrants from Curry County for aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, failure to appear and phone harassment after police received information he was staying at a residence at 506 S. Ave. E, the release said. He also had Roosevelt County warrants for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.

In the process of arresting Hawkins, police found marijuana plants, the release said.

Hawkins is being held without bail at the Roosevelt County Detention Center, according to officials.
