The city of Clovis Public Works Committee met Wednesday. Here is a report on the meeting:
• The committee will send the City Commission a request for $200,000 to supplement a $350,000 Community Development Block Grant to rehabilitate residential roads between Grand and Seventh streets and Mitchell and Thornton streets.
The city qualified for the grant in April.
Public Works Director Harry Wang said the project could start between the summer and fall depending on when the city receives the grant.
List of streets scheduled to be worked on:
Between Grand and Seventh streets: Calhoun, Hinkle, Merriwether, Rencher and Connelly streets.
Between Mitchell and Thornton streets: Fourth, Fifth and Sixth streets.
• The city hired engineering firm Camp, Dresser & McGee to help with planning for future growth at the city landfill.
During the middle term of the city’s 20-year landfill permit, the city needs to conduct a review of the landfill.
The review period requires the city to present engineering of the landfill to adjust for future growth, according to City Commissioner and Public Works Committee member Len Vohs. He said CDM will help with the review.
