Sandia teacher chosen for award

Jimmy Marez of Clovis, a student teacher at Sandia Elementary School, was named Student Teacher of the Year in the state’s southern district by the New Mexico Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Marez, 43, is currently an undergraduate at Wayland Baptist University’s Clovis campus and is studying elementary education and was nominated by a teacher to receive the award. Marez received his award Saturday in a ceremony at ENMU-Roswell.
