A man who stuffed his bed to fool detention officers and escaped through a broken jail door in December 2006 will serve about 12 years in prison, according to District Attorney Matt Chandler.
Guadalupe Rodriguez, 31, of Clovis pleaded guilty Wednesday to escape from a jail facility, Chandler said in a press release.
Rodriguez escaped from the Curry County Adult Detention Center on Dec. 23, 2006. His absence went unreported until Dec. 25, when officials started searching the area for him.
Rodriguez was arrested five days later in a Dimmitt, Texas, hotel.
Jail officials said Rodriguez was a trustee, serving on a kitchen detail at the time of his escape.
