Cliff eliminates Clovis Christian, Elida beats Grady

P.J. Bryant scored 17 points as top-seeded Cliff bounced Clovis Christian from the Class 1A state playoffs, beating the Eagles 60-39 in a quarterfinal contest today in Rio Rancho.

Jocelyn Swann scored 15 points for the eighth-seeded Eagles, who reached the state quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

In another Class 1A quarterfinal Tuesday night, No. 2 Elida held off Grady 57-49.

In Class 2A, Texico’s march to a second-straight Class 2A girls state basketball title continued this morning with a 60-29 rout of Bosque in a state quarterfinal game at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho.

Katlin Luscombe led Texico with 16 points and Victoria Richards added 11.

In Class 3A, Santa Fe Indian School ended Portales’ string of seven straight state title game appearances, beating the Lady Rams 41-35 in a quarterfinal game at The Pit.

Bethany Self and Gabby Garcia led Portales with 10 points each.
