PORTALES— The Smithsonian Exhibit, Key Ingredients: American by Food, located in Eastern New Mexico University’s Golden Library, will host “Kids’ Day” from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. Children must be accompanied by a parent.
The day will start with a reception catered by the Portales Junior High Family and Consumer Sciences department.
Multiple activities will occur simultaneously. There will be a story time for pre-schoolers, dance music and food songs. Kids will also have the opportunity to experience
measuring and mixing ingredients using a variety of kitchen tools and machines.
During “Kids’ Day” there will presentations about the influence of the Spanish colonists on New Mexico food, Hispanic cooking traditions and how nutrition patterns have changed in New Mexico.
