AFSOC freefall jump planned for Melrose Bombing Range

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M.–Members the 123rd Special Tactics Squadron from Standiford Field, Ky., will be the first Air Force Special Operations Command unit to conduct a military freefall jump at Melrose Range on February 19.

Airmen from the 123 STS will parachute into Melrose range from a MC-130W Combat Spear assigned to the 73rd Special Operations Squadron here at Cannon AFB.

This will mark the first time a military freefall jump has been conducted over the Melrose Range since the 27th Special Operations Wing took control of Cannon and the range on October 1, 2007.
