Business Digest: Resident named head of appraisal group

Douglas Defoor of Clovis has been named president of the Rio Grande Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, according to a news release.

The Appraisal Institute is an international organization of professional real estate appraisers with 22,000 members and 92 chapters.

Local Realtor on state executive committee
Sharon Hicks of Clovis has been named to the 2008 executive committee of the Realtors Association of New Mexico.

Hicks also is southeast district vice president of the organization.

RANM represents more than 8,200 members involved in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate.

Texas Tech grad honored for agriculture skills
Mark Williams has been named one of three 2007 Gerald W. Thomas outstanding agriculturalists by Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Williams graduated with honors from Texas Tech in 1974 with a degree in agricultural economics. He has served as president of several organizations, including Parmer County Farm Bureau, Plains Cotton Growers and the Southwest Council of Agribusiness.

He has served on the Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, the Farmer’s Cooperative Compress and the National Cotton Council.
